What makes searching a 30,000-file archive tolerable?

A thousand folders and twenty thousand unhelpful filenames do not make a useful archive.

We are testing several ways to browse: complete series, decades, photographic process, theme, newest reviewed material and a genuinely random discovery button.

If you could keep only two filters, which would they be?
